It is a great honour for me to be a teacher of the Yoga Tradition of ancient India. From early on in my exploration of Yoga, I recognized the profound potential of the ancient science of Yoga to be a positive force in the modern world. I have seen time and time again the sterilization and distilling of this powerful potential as Yoga has crossed over cultures and become integrated into the mainstream Western lifestyle. It has been my single-minded ambition to shed light upon the profound and powerful potential of this great science in a world where many have not had the proper guidance to understand Yoga, and hence have lost much of its value in erroneous interpretations and narrow perspectives.
As the founder and director of International Yogalayam, the world's first internet-based Yoga training institution in the Guru-Chela (personal teacher-student) tradition, I remain the personal guide to each and every student of the Yoga Correspondence Course.
I represent the lineage of teachings of Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj, in the Rishiculture Paramparai of Rishi Brighu Guru Maharaj, and was granted the title of Yogacharya ("one who, by virtue of his knowledge and experience, is fit to guide others along the Yogic path") by the late SwamiJi's wife, Smt. Yogacharini Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani, and their son, Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, at Ananda Ashram's International Centre For Yoga Education and Research (ICYER) in Pondicherry India.
The teachings which I relay to you are a revelation of the wisdom of the great saints and sages of ancient India, and a result of my own deep study of the history and culture of that ancient land. I present the authentic teachings of Yoga in a lucid and insightful manner, and endeavour to relay this ancient knowledge in a way that is every bit as relevant to modern life as it has ever been. Over the years, I've taught Yoga in various countries around the world and now work exclusively to further the propagation and understanding of the ancient science of Yoga via continued writings on the subjects of Yoga and Vedanta, Yoga research and teachings on an international level.
Earlier in my life, I received training in the medical health field in Canada before spending several years in India, over the course of several visits, studying Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine. Throughout the course of my own education, I traveled widely, working with a variety of teachers in various branches of the Yoga Tradition in a non-sectarian manner. Over the past two decades, I've journeyed extensively through various countries around the world as a student of culture, healing and spiritual traditions, also receiving significant training in Traditional Thai Medicine and gaining exposure to various spiritual disciplines and healing arts throughout China, India and Southeast Asia.
I see my role as helping to revive knowledge and understanding of the full scope of the Yoga Tradition in the modern age. As a teacher and translator of ancient wisdom, I strive to empower people to use the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Tradition in a practical, non-dogmatic way to both enhance their lives and to aid in their own Self-realization.
In this modern-day world, where disease, disharmony and unhappiness are on the rise, few teachers have come forward with a simple, yet profound message for humanity. It is just that type of message that I humbly present to you, with the wish that you find the understanding, joy, health and harmony that you all rightfully deserve. My Pranams (blessings) and best wishes to all.
